Hello Wildcats, and welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!  This is my seventh year at McKeel and my fourteenth year working in education.  I earned my dual B.A. from Florida Southern College in 2007 in English: Creative Writing & British Literature and Secondary Education, and I earned my Master's in Ed. Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University in Spring 2016.  I am an avid reader and writer, and my goal is to help students find their love of words!

A bit about the course:

I am very excited to be teaching 9th grade English this year, and we have so many fascinating subjects to cover!  English is designed to advance your proficiency in analytical reading, writing, speech, and communication. This course emphasizes the interior and exterior forces that shape identity and enhances your understanding of a wide range of cultures and intellectual traditions through a genre-based study of literature. Students will develop an understanding of literary terminology, reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as develop analytical and critical thinking skills through the study of a wide-range of literature.

Email is the quickest way to reach me, and I am always happy to have a discussion with you and your family regarding our class.

A bit about me:

My husband and I have a seven year old daughter, a two year old son, and a small herd of fuzzy creatures that we come home to every night.  IMy hobbies include baking, photography, reading, traveling, home improvement,  gaming, gardening, spending time with my family, and hiking.   Here's to a great year full of fun, exploration, and learning! I look forward to working with you throughout the year!
