Learn Something About Me

Greetings, Wildcats! I started my teaching career as an English instructor in 2006, and then as an adjunct professor in 2011. I proudly hold a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.

This year, I am excited to continue teaching AP Literature & Composition, Dual Enrollment ENC1101, ENC1102, LIT1000, and LIT1200. Additionally, I will once again be an ENC1102 adjunct instructor for Polk State College.

Because I teach primarily college-level courses, I consistently encourage my students to sharpen their reading and writing skills in preparation for the world of post-secondary education. I also try to inspire them to explore who they are and who they want to become. I want them to question their world and dare to "disturb the universe" as T.S. Eliot implores of us. Along with this, I want them to begin to experience a sense of autonomy in relation to their goals and education. That being said, I'm looking forward to a fantastic year of great literature, meaningful discussion, challenging assignments, and opportunities for personal and academic growth!
