Welcome to English 1 at McKeel Academy of Technology!

This year, we will journey together through the turbulent waters of social justice, the swishing collards of Boo Radley's backyard, the twists and turns of poetic prose, the dusty streets of Verona, the nooks and crannies of grammatical structure, and the violent cruelty of the Third Reich. Be prepared for anything as we dive into the world of reading and writing!

This is my sixth year teaching at McKeel Academy of Technology and my seventh year of teaching in general. I have a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from Southeastern University.

I’ve been married six years to my wonderful husband. In February 2019, we welcomed our first beautiful daughter, Sarah Belle, into the world. In November 2020, we will meet our second baby girl, who is on the way! I will miss a minimal amount of school while on maternity leave in November and December, but my students will be in good hands! The assigned substitute teacher, administration, and Mrs. Simpson (my fellow 9th grade English teacher and the English Department leader) will ensure that my students have everything they need to be successful during my short absence.

I love games and friendly competition, as well as geeking out about my favorite TV shows and books. I also love crafting and creating things of beauty in my life. I look forward to bringing this kind of fun and positivity into my course's lessons and activities!
