Michael Schweim
Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am so excited to continue to be part of the McKeel Academy administrative team, serving as your Assistant Principal of Curriculum. I am a graduate of both the University of Florida and Florida Southern College. As a proud fan of the Florida Gators, I have attended every Florida Gators home football game since the start of the 1996 season.
I am in my second year of administration and my 12th year at McKeel Academy of Technology. Prior to this position, I began my teaching career at Crystal Lake Middle School, where I taught 7th grade science. I was then at Rochelle School of the Arts, where I taught middle school science and founded its robotics program. At McKeel Academy of Technology, prior to my role as an administrator, I taught Robotics I through Robotics V for a decade and was the lead coach of our six FIRST Tech Challenge competitive robotics teams.
I want to serve as a resource for students and their families as they navigate through middle school and high school, making decisions that steer them toward a fulfilling life after McKeel Academy. For the teachers on our campus, I aim to support their academic decision-making that leads to the highest quality education possible for our students. If there is ever a need, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am excited for all that this year will bring!
