Learn Something About Me

Welcome to MAT! We are a wonderful school full of fabulous students like YOU! My name is Ms. Boyd or Prof. Boyd because I’m also an Adjunct Professor at Florida Southern College! Are you ready for an ADVENTURE!?!

Well, GET READY!!!! YOU are about to visit the Adventure Café EVERYDAY!!

So, who is this “Prof. Boyd”? I a blessed mom of two wonderful sons, Asher and Aiden, and one spoiled Labrador named BiBi! I’ve been teaching for almost 24 years, but this is my FIRST full year at McKeel and I am READY for our adventures to begin!! In 1996, I earned a Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern College in Secondary English Education with a minor in Communications. My minor was diversified between general Mass Communications and Literary History. I also have a Master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Reading, K-12 Education with an emphasis on Reading in the Social Studies classroom. My certifications include Elementary Education, grades K-6; English, grades 6-12; History, grades 6-12; and Reading, grades K-12. I also carry the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement. As an adventurer myself, I’ve had the opportunity to participate with the Teaching American History Grant from the University of Florida. This has led me to several GREAT research opportunities at Plymouth, Jamestown, Boston, MA. and Charleston, SC. I'm also pursuing writing as a hobby and I've had a few poems published in The Ledger this summer.
Teaching is a passion of mine. The ability to encourage a student to learn and grasp abstract historical concepts, as well as concrete facts is my goal. I want to prepare you to be WORLD CHANGERS! The time is NOW to make a difference for the BETTER in our world! It is TREMENDOUS to witness a student’s zest for history emerge during the school year!  I am looking forward to a terrific year!
