Spanish Team

Hola!

My students know me as Señora Vazquez. The pronunciation is Vazquez; the u is silence.🤫 I am a native Spanish speaker, and sharing my love for my language and culture has become my passion.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I attended college at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Labor Relations. I have a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Human Resources which gave me the opportunity to work in the private sector in PR for more than 8th years. I come from a long line of educators. After volunteering at my daughters' school, I loved the school system.

I am a comprehensible input (CI) teacher with more than twelve years of experience, certified in Spanish K-12 and ESOL. I was part of the creation of the Polk County Public School Spanish curriculum map developing initiative and textbooks adoption committees. I teach Spanish 2, 4H, and AP Spanish and also have the privilege of Sponsoring the National Spanish Honor Society in which we help our school, community, and beyond the borders.

Learning a second language opens doors in today's global economy. I want to equip future businessmen/women, doctors, and engineers with one more tool that places them in front of the line.

We role-play skits in our class and speak and try and try again. Learning a new language can be intimidating, but I am confident that my enthusiastic, cultural approach to teaching Spanish enables students to acquire language skills in a manner that keeps them interested and motivated. My hope is that my students come with the same positive attitude and willingness to learn because I am ready to teach.

I have been married for 20-plus years and have two kids. I love my family and believe in values and integrity in the human being. I enjoy traveling as much as I can. I am a soccer fan. Real Madrid is my team. -HalaMadrid!

Gracias y ¡Hasta luego!
