Learn Something About Me

  • Hello!   My name is Amy Lowery. I am so excited to be here at McKeel Academy for my first FULL year. I arrived here at MAT in February of this year. I transferred from Kathleen High School after 4 1/2 years, building, teaching and directing the Sports Medicine Academy. I was offered this position here at MAT after many changes, and feel that with my back ground, as well as the love for our youth, this school year will be the best yet!  I knew 5 years ago, when I left my first love as a Neuromuscular Therapist, that teaching was going to be my new love, my new passion.  I am grateful to be part of such a great teaching family here at McKeel Academy of Technology.

I am not originally from Polk County, but have adopted this great area as my "home".   I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, moving to Central Florida in 1986.  I graduated in 1991 from Hardee Senior High School in Wauchula.  I attended  Warner Southern University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in  Exercise Science with a minor in Biology in 2001. I became a Neuromuscular Therapist in 2002 at Florida College of Natural Health.  My passion as a Neuromuscular Therapist has always overflowed into the lives of my clients and patients, educating and guiding them to their "best" self.

I have a special place in my heart for the Special Olympics, as my brother has Down's syndrome. I spent many summers and winters helping my community organize and assist during the games/events. I look forward to organizing groups of students to become involved in the Special Olympics, creating a unity among our general and disabled students.

I am so excited to begin my 6th year teaching here at MAT,  enticing our students, our future leaders and educators, in becoming active members in the health industry. I look forward to sharing my skills, knowledge and stories,  influencing students who are interested in the medical field and planning their own future.

Let's have a great school year!

Amy Lowery, LMT-CPT
