Mindy Baine
8th Grade Team
Hey Wildcats!
I'm Mrs. Baine.
8th grade English Language Arts is where you will find me. I am thrilled to be serving students and families in middle school at McKeel.
1st semester we will be reading the novel I will always write back. We will also read parts of Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom, and in December we will read A Christmas Carol. 2nd semester readings will include The Diary of Anne Frank and the popular Hunger Games. All novels will be provided and I will ask students to keep them in provided ziplock bags to help keep the covers nice. We will also study poetry, grammar, Greek prefixes, and non-fiction articles.
Students will need a charged iPad, portable or corded charger, optional Apple Pencil or stylus, earbuds or headphones, spiral-bound notecards for vocabulary, a pen or pencil, lined notebook paper & a simple pocket folder.
I am available before school from 8:15 to 8:45 on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays if your student needs to come in early for help with an assignment.
Middle schoolers eat lunch early in the day, so I do allow snacks in my classroom. Snacks should be healthy and in personal portions. Students may have a water bottle with water only.
This is my 25th year serving in the field of Education - I have served as a classroom teacher, testing coordinator, and assistant principal. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, English and Secondary Education from Florida Southern College, and my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership & Administration from North Carolina State University. When I'm not on campus, I spend my time with my hardworking husband and 3 active kids and teenager on our farm in North Lakeland.
Let me know how I can help you! :)
