Natally Alvarez

Natally Alvarez

Spanish Team

Hola,

My name is Natally Alvarez and I was born and raised in Colombia. I moved to Lakeland when I was 16 years old. My family is quite large and most of them are still in Colombia which gives me the best excuse to travel. However, my mom and younger sister moved with me. I had just graduated from high school in Colombia but decided to attend high school here for about a year and a half to try to learn the language. After high school, I went to UF and graduated with a Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to learn a secondary language and I believe that’s one of my strongest assets as a Spanish teacher. I understand how frustrated my students can get when they don’t fully understand what we are learning so I am able to extend patience and grace towards them. I am also able to use my experience to teach in a way that I know works because it worked for me. I also love to travel! I love to go to different places to learn about their culture, language, and obviously their food. I try to share this passion in my class and help teach my students about the culture of other people around the world. Teaching was not something I saw in my future when I attended college, but I am so grateful that it is where I find myself now.

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio so you can learn a little bit more about me.
