 Fall Sports Information for 2009-2010 |

| Next fall, the FHSAA has set Monday, August 10 as the first day of practice for all fall sports (except cross country which starts on Aug. 17.) This is a full 2 weeks before the first day of school in Polk Co. and throughout the state of Florida due to the mandated start date by the legislature. Our student athletes are encouraged to begin the tryouts and practices on this date to insure them ample opportunity to become a member of any of these fall teams. There is no guarantee that a student can wait until Aug. 24 to go out for a fall sport and be selected for the team since the teams would have been practicing for two weeks and the first contest is just a week away. Vacations (if possible) should be planned so that students will be able to participate in tryouts and practices on August 10. Individual situations should be addressed with the principal, athletic director and the coaches well in advance of the Aug. 10 date. | |
