Teacher Spotlight

Tracey Hurt

8th Grade Team

Welcome back Wildcats!

I am very happy to be back in eighth grade and to be with each of you. I graduated from the University of South Florida in 1994 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Humanities. In 1998, I began my wonderful journey here at McKeel Academy teaching tenth grade. In 2005, my colleagues selected me as their Teacher of the Year, and Sam's selected me as their Teacher of the Year.

This year, I am eighth grade's Team Leader; I am here to assist you and your child through this exciting academic year. In addition, for the past eight years, I have sponsored Student Government as well as assisted Mr. Dill and Mrs. Fishburn with History Fair.

Students, be prepared to explore new topics, integrate with your all your classes, actively learn everyday, and improve our reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. There are no limits to what you can achieve!

Please contact me at traceyhurt@mckeelacademy.com or at 863.499.2818

Sincerely,
Miss Tracey Hurt

Summer Assignment Information and Deadline (September 16 by midnight)

For the Language Arts component of the Summer assignment Mrs. Abercrombie and I developed a blog in conjunction with the book, Teens Can Make It Happen, by Stedman Graham in which its excerpts are on Google Books. Our website is http://eighthgradesummerreading.blogspot.com/. Students will need to create a free Google account (if he/she does not have one yet) in order to respond to all eight blog postings by September 16. The book's link is also included on the blog as well.

The second component of the Summer assignment in Language Arts is participating two hours weekly on the Kid's College website at www.kclogin.com. Mrs. Powell, our Director of Middle School Curriculum, would be able to assist students in setting up her login in and password if they are new to McKeel Academy.

I do hope this information was helpful.

Miss Hurt
